About PFIAA
PFIAA is the peak national association (Association) for the pet food Industry, raising standards across Australia, influencing change, and future proofing our Industry for generations to come.
The Code of Conduct applies to all PFIAA members.

01. Demonstrate Support
Members will demonstrate support for, and actively promote, the Association.
02. Respect and Integrity
- Members shall conduct their professional activities with respect for the Association and public interest.
- Members shall ensure best practice and the highest quality of service.
- Members shall at all times act with integrity and respect towards other members, PFIAA officers, clients, Industry third parties and the public.
03. Reputation
- Members shall always present in a professional manner.
- Members shall not injure or disparage, or permit or authorise the injury or disparagement, of the professional reputation or practice of PFIAA or its members, officers, clients, or Industry third parties. PFIAA
04. Behaviour
- Members shall act in the best interests of the Association and the industry, and not for an improper purpose.
- Members shall conduct their professional activities with respect for the industry and public interest.
- Members shall act with integrity and respect towards other members, Executive Committee members, officers, clients, employees, industry third parties and the public, past and present.
- Members shall always promote inclusion, diversity, fairness, safety and respect.
- Members shall not, at any time, engage in behaviour that may be considered as being defamatory, discrimination, bullying, harassment, assault, intimidation, victimisation or vilification.
- Members must ensure any information provided to the Association is fair, truthful, accurate and timely and maintain accurate records; Members shall not disseminate false or misleading information nor conceal any relevant fact.
- Compliance with this clause is a strict condition of membership and should a member fail to comply, membership will be terminated immediately by the PFIAA.
05. Social Media
- Members agree that they will not speak or communicate on behalf of the Association in any medium unless expressly authorised to do so.
- Members shall use social media responsibly and professionally.
06. Protecting PFIAA Interests
- Members shall not use PFIAA property (including intellectual property), PFIAA information, PFIAA technology, systems and data, their status as a member or opportunities which arise from these to improperly gain benefit for themselves or another party.
- Members shall protect and not disclose to others, any PFIAA information that could be considered confidential or personal.
- Members shall protect PFIAA data from loss, misuse or damage.
07. Competing Interests
Members shall not represent conflicting or competing interests except with the express consent of those concerned given only after full disclosure of the facts to all interested parties.
08. Illegal Methods
Members shall refrain from knowingly associating with any enterprise, which uses improper or illegal methods for obtaining business.
09. Exchange Information
Members shall help to improve the body of knowledge of the Association by exchanging information and experiences with fellow members and by applying their special skill and training for the benefit of others.
10. Truth & Accuracy
- Members shall not disseminate false or misleading information, whether written, spoken or implied, nor conceal any relevant fact.
- Members have a duty to ensure that any information provided to the PFIAA is fair, truthful, accurate and timely.
- If applicable, members shall maintain accurate records and ensure that information provided to PFIAA is accurate.
11. Relationships with Government
Members shall always act with integrity and maintain honest, transparent relationships with
governments and their agencies, officials and personnel.
12. Scope of Membership
Members shall refrain from using their relationship with PFIAA in such a manner as to state or imply an official accreditation or approval beyond the scope of membership of PFIAA and its aims, rules, regulations and policies, including this Code of Conduct.
13. Compliance with Laws and Regulations
- Members shall not breach, or omit to do something in breach of, any law or regulation or requirement related to PFIAA.
- Members shall have in place appropriate risk management practices to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- All actual or potential breaches must be reported immediately to the Executive Officer of PFIAA.
14. Work Health and Safety
- Members shall promote work health and safety in the association.
- Members will always comply with work health safety laws, regulations and requirements while carrying out PFIAA activities.
15. Anti-Competitive Law
- Members shall comply with applicable antitrust and competition laws.
- Members shall not, directly or indirectly, engage in anti-competitive or cartel conduct, as defined by the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.
16. Corruption
Members shall not engage in fraud, bribery or corruption of any kind and will comply with all anti-corruption laws.
17. PFIAA & Privacy
Members shall comply with all applicable privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988.
18. Enforcing the Code of Conduct
Members shall cooperate with fellow members in upholding and enforcing this Code of Conduct.
19. Reportable Conduct
Members may report to the Executive Officer or access the Whistleblower Policy to report any actual or suspected improper or illegal activities, ethical or integrity violations linked to the PFIAA, including any breach of this Code of Conduct or the PFIAA Constitution.
